Understanding the user

I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I am designing for and their needs. A main group of users identified through the research were parents like Roberto Hernández, who seeks to understand his adolescent son’s behavior and improve their family dynamics through specialized neuropsychological evaluations and family therapy.

This group of users confirmed initial assumptions about PsiqueSana’s clients, but the investigation also revealed that access to professional evaluations wasn’t the only factor influencing their decisions.

Other user problems include a lack of understanding of the therapy process, difficulty in finding trusted professionals, and challenges in scheduling sessions that accommodate busy family schedules.

PERSONA AND PROBLEM STATEMENT

Roberto Hernández

Roberto Hernández, 45 years old and an industrial engineer in Playas de Tijuana, is worried about his teenage son's behavior and is looking for specialized support. He wants a neuropsychological evaluation to help him better understand his son's needs, as well as a center that offers family therapy to improve the home dynamic. He gets frustrated when trying to find centers that offer both services in one place and seeks treatment that is more focused on his situation. His goal is to understand his son's emotional and cognitive state, and he wants a therapeutic approach that is accessible both in-person and online. As he says, "I need to better understand what is happening with my son and how I can help him, but I also want treatment that involves the whole family."

Starting the design

DIGITAL WIREFRAMES

As the initial design phase continued, I made sure to base screen designs on feedback and findings from the user research

LOW-FIDILITY PROTOTYPE

Using the completed set of digital wireframes, I created a low-fidelity prototype. The primary user flow I connected was finding an item and placing it in the cart, so the prototype could be used in a usability study.

Usability study: Findings

I conducted two rounds of usability studies. Findings from the first study helped guide the designs from wireframes to mockups. The second study used a high-fidelity prototype and revealed what aspects of the mockups needed refining.

TAKEAWAYS

IMPACT

Psique-Sana provides psychotherapy services and neuropsychological evaluations with a focus on personalization and professionalism, both in person and online. Attention to individual needs and high quality of service have been instrumental in fostering the personal growth and well-being of their clients.

One client comment: “Psyche-Healthy offered me a truly personalized approach that was tailored to my needs. The ease of accessing sessions online was a great relief and allowed for continuous monitoring of my progress.”

WHAT I LEARNED

In developing Psyche-Healthy's services, I learned that accessibility and personalization are essential for clients to feel comfortable and engaged. Facilitating a seamless experience, both online and in person, is key to building trust and ensuring effective support for clients in their therapy process.

NEXT STEPS

1.- CREATE A SELF-ASSESSMENT SYSTEM

Develop an online self-assessment system that allows users to identify their needs and get personalized recommendations for psychotherapy sessions or neuropsychological evaluations. This will help clients to choose the most appropriate service from the beginning.

2.- INTEGRATION OF VIRTUAL COACHING FUNCTIONALITY

Implement a virtual coaching functionality that offers additional resources, such as exercises and techniques recommended by Psique-Sana professionals. This could include a library of videos or articles accessible through the platform to support clients between sessions.

3.- OPTIMIZING THE BOOKING EXPERIENCE

Simplify the online appointment booking process to make it more intuitive and less bureaucratic. This could include implementing an interactive calendar and quick booking options, as well as automated reminders for scheduled sessions.
